I love the starkness of Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island in Southern Georgia. We were there in September around 7 pm and it was very windy. Most paintings of the coast are of the savannahs where green and gold predominate, but I prefer the beach, where whole dead trees can blow up, and the sky can have a muted tone in the evening with the sun setting on the opposite side of the island.
